Big Understanding: Observation and large_coordinate.gifof changes in the world around us are the first steps in finding and learning about patterns.

Essential Question: What are some of the variables around us?

Vocabulary and definitions:
Coordinate graph - a graph of related numerical numbers that shows the relationship between two variables.
Variable - A quantity that can change
Independent Variable - It's value determines the value of the independent variable.
Dependent Variable -A value that depends upon or determined by the other variable called the independent variable.

Questions
Are we going to take data from our class?
Do you give extra credit based on individual basis?
Will there ever be a surprise test or quiz?

Problems
1. The two variables in the jumping jacks experiment were 1. Number of jumping jacks on the y-axis and 2. Time on the x-axis. The independent variable is the jumping jacks, because it was what I changed by doing the jumping jacks and the time is the dependent variable, because it was what changed when the jumping jacks changed. So the jumping jacks affected the time every time the jumping jack changed.

2.
A. Variables that can be counted or measured for example are the numbers of a book, television channels, a carpet, a window and many more things. Variables that are related are a timer and amount of push-ups you can do in a minute. How many times it rains in a week and who long.

B. For part a I would put the amount of push-ups on the y-axis, because its the dependent variable and the timer on the x-axis since its the independent variable.
